Sherlock Holmes

I'm aware this isn't normally the type of fiction we go on about here but I looked on google, wiki, amazon, and barnes and noble among others and I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for. I picked up a book called The Complete Sherlock Holmes Volume 1 Barnes and Noble edition and am now on the story "The Flower of Utah" which follows "A Study in Scarlet" and precedes "The Sign of Four."

I have not finished it yet, but I was wondering if this has to do with Sherlock Holmes at all. It involves Lucy Ferrier and I was thinking this may be the woman that Watson eventually marries but I'm more concerned with it being some kind artistic entrance by B&N, anywho the main issue is I bought this trying to read about murder mysteries and LOVED "A Study in Scarlet" but if this is just some story about the Mormons in their more vicious period (or right after, not certain yet), no offense to any Mormons out there after all I'm a Lutheran and we have a few very vicious spots in our history, then I was planning on ordering some books online which are stated to only contain Holmes stories which are in the order written not in a timeline and have no added stories of any kind.

I kinda figured a few of you at least may have read these so you may be able to throw me a bone.

Re: Sherlock Holmes

Uggg out of boredness I read a few more chapters and blame Doyle for his weird writing shift. From first person to a seperate third person story rejoining back into a first person from Watson...

Re: Sherlock Holmes

It's been years, but I hopped around in one of the compilations too.

There are definitely some stories that aren't that great. Skip 'em. I did the same thing when I read an H.P. Lovecraft compilation. Some of it is brilliant, and some ain't.

If you don't like a storyline for whatever reason, move along. (I couldn't really make out what you were complaining about in that first post, to be honest.. Anti-morman stories maybe?)

Re: Sherlock Holmes

LOL no not anti-mormon, they played an antagonists in the story but not like that really. Ends up its pretty part 2 of "A Study in Scarlet" which told the series of events leading up to the murder that Holmes was investigating. "A Sign of Four" did the same thing, showed Holmes solving the case, showed the events leading up to the murder, then a few last words between Holmes and Watson. Honestly I skipped alot of the events leading up to part and will prolly continue to do so but for the most part I'm really enjoying the investigation parts.

Re: Sherlock Holmes

Still noticing old posts from while I was gone ... if you have any kind of device that functions as an e-reader (to include your PC) you can preview (or get for free) a lot of Doyle's work here.
